NFT Paris abruptly cancels 2026 conference weeks before start

One of the biggest annual cryptocurrency conferences about non-fungible tokens, NFT Paris, has been called off about a month before it was supposed to happen. The people in charge of NFT Paris 2026 said on social media that the event would not happen. They said that the main reasons for the cancellation were a long period of weak markets and financial stress.

The event had already had four editions in Paris and had become a major meeting place for the global Web3 and NFT community. The organizers say that sharp drops in NFT markets made it impossible to keep the conference going, even after they cut costs and worked hard to get funding.

The NFT market hasn’t gotten back to the levels it was at during the pandemic boom. There were some spikes in trading in 2025, but overall volumes on the biggest NFT marketplaces are still well below their previous highs. Industry data shows that trading activity has dropped by about 95% from its highest levels in 2021. NFT collections that are well-known, like Bored Ape Yacht Club and CryptoPunks, have also seen their values drop sharply. Some platforms that used to focus on NFTs, like OpenSea, have also moved toward offering more general crypto services.

The Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris was supposed to host NFT Paris on February 5 and 6. Promotional materials said that about 20,000 people were expected to come, with hundreds of speakers and several side events. RWA Paris was about tokenized real-world assets, Ordinals Paris was about Bitcoin-based collectibles, and XYZ Paris was about Web3 topics like artificial intelligence, decentralized infrastructure, and more.

The people in charge said that everyone who bought a ticket would get their money back within 15 days. Reports say that ticket prices ranged from around $230 for general admission to more than $1,100 for VIP access. Some sponsors, on the other hand, are worried about getting their money back. An artist who worked on a generative art project said they got a message saying that the sponsorship money might not be refundable because costs had already been paid. The message reportedly talked about contractual clauses that say no refunds are allowed when costs are higher than sponsorship contributions.

The people in charge said they are working to officially end the event and take care of any remaining responsibilities. Media outlets have tried to get in touch with the NFT Paris team to get more information about sponsor refunds and other financial issues.
